木工製品と環境問題について。

About wood products and environmental issues.

Awareness of environmental issues is increasing in all fields these days.

The kumiko and wood products I make are no exception.

In my work, I use wood, which is a natural material, but I can also use materials as thin as 3mm for the kumiko work itself, so the amount of offcuts generated is small.

However, during the manufacturing process, sawdust and wood scraps are generated.

At my workshop, cypress sawdust is subdivided and provided free of charge in front of the store.

Typical uses include deodorant and soil mixed in flowerbeds.

When more sawdust is produced, we ask local farmers to take it back and mix it with the soil in their fields.

As a result, there is almost no sawdust to dispose of as garbage.

It's just a small thing, but I try to be aware of it.
